The video compares two similarly priced AI coding models, Miniax M3.1 Flash and Deepseek V4.1 Flash, across four coding tasks, finding that while both perform well on simpler projects, Deepseek is faster and more reliable on complex tasks like 3D page builds. Although Miniax M3.1 Flash boasts faster speeds and cost reductions, Deepseek currently offers better consistency, with the creator recommending users choose based on their specific needs and hosting conditions.

For about a month, an anonymous AI model called Space Bunny Alpha was widely used on Open Router for coding tasks, but its creator was unknown. Recently, Open Router revealed that this model is actually Miniax M3.1 Flash, developed and operated by Miniax. Both Miniax M3.1 Flash and Deepseek V4.1 Flash are priced the same at 15 cents per million input tokens and 60 cents per million output tokens during off-peak hours. The video creator tested both models simultaneously on four real coding tasks to compare their performance, speed, and reliability.

Miniax claims that M3.1 Flash is nearly three times faster than its predecessor and reduces agent task costs by 70%, with a median output speed of over 170 tokens per second. However, independent benchmarks are not yet available. Miniax’s own comparison table shows mixed results: Deepseek scores slightly better on coding and terminal benchmarks, while M3.1 leads on automation. Pricing varies depending on peak or off-peak hours, but at off-peak rates, both models cost roughly the same.

The first test involved fixing eight bugs in a small Python project. Both models successfully fixed all bugs and passed all tests, but Deepseek was faster, completing the task in 13 seconds compared to M3.1’s 35 seconds. The second test was building a revenue dashboard with interactive charts and KPIs. Both models produced working dashboards with no errors, though Deepseek was quicker and generated more tokens, making it slightly more expensive. Visually, both dashboards were comparable, resulting in a tie.

The third test was a Tetris game with complex features like piece rotation, ghost pieces, and increasing speed. M3.1 completed the task faster (313 seconds vs. 412 seconds), but Deepseek generated more tokens and was limited by slower streaming speeds on Open Router. Both games functioned correctly, so no clear winner emerged. The final and most challenging test was a 3D sneaker product page. Deepseek delivered a fully functional page on the first try, while M3.1 failed twice due to small coding errors and returned no output twice, indicating reliability issues on complex tasks.

In conclusion, both models perform well on quick fixes and front-end projects, with speed and cost depending on hosting and usage conditions. For complex, long-running builds like 3D pages, Deepseek currently shows better reliability. The tests were limited to one run per task and different hosting environments, so results are indicative rather than definitive. The creator plans to rerun tests as more users try the models and as Miniax’s own hosting plan becomes available. Overall, users should choose based on their specific needs, cost considerations, and which model performs better in their environment.
