GeForce Garage - Josh AI PC by Mellow Mods

In the latest GeForce Garage episode, modder Brandon McCarthy showcases his innovative PC build named “Josh,” designed to demonstrate the capabilities of Josh AI for home automation. The build features unique woodworking elements, advanced automation controls, and impressive hardware specifications, including a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, all while integrating smart technology like a transparent front screen and voice command functionalities.

In the latest episode of GeForce Garage, host Dwight welcomes back Brandon McCarthy, a talented modder known for his previous builds, “Whoop” and “Bread Box.” Brandon showcases his latest creation, named “Josh,” which serves as a demonstration for Josh AI, a home automation control company. The build is designed to highlight the capabilities of Josh AI, allowing users to control various devices in their home, such as lights and TVs, through voice commands and automation.

Brandon explains the inspiration behind the build, emphasizing his love for woodworking and the unique design of the Fractal North case. He has made several modifications to the case, including the installation of a microphone for voice commands and a custom GPU mount that maintains the aesthetic appeal of the wood features. The use of walnut veneer adds a sophisticated touch, and Brandon utilized a laser cutter from his local library to achieve precise cuts and clean logos for the components.

The build incorporates advanced automation features, including RGBW controllers and 12 relays that allow for various functions, such as powering the PC on and off through voice commands. Brandon has also integrated a nine-button keypad that can trigger macros for launching applications or games. Additionally, the setup includes a 4x2 HDMI Matrix, enabling seamless control of video content, including deep linking to specific episodes of shows.

One of the standout features of the build is the front screen, which utilizes Smart Glass technology. This allows the screen to switch between transparent and opaque states, depending on whether it is powered on or off. To enhance visibility, Brandon installed over 20 feet of linear LED strips to illuminate the panel effectively. The build requires both DC and AC power supplies to operate the smart glass, showcasing the complexity of the project.

In terms of hardware specifications, the PC is powered by an Intel i7 4700K CPU, a Z790 Aorus motherboard, and 32 GB of RAM, with a 2 TB Samsung 960 Pro for storage. The graphics are handled by a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, all powered by an 850 W Corsair power supply with custom cables. Brandon’s meticulous attention to detail and innovative design make “Josh” a remarkable example of modern PC modding and home automation integration.
