Google unveils trio of new AI-powered Android smartphones with Pixel 10 series

Google unveiled its new Pixel 10 series smartphones, including the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the durable Pixel 10 Pro Fold, all featuring advanced AI capabilities, upgraded cameras, and running Android 16. Alongside these, Google introduced the AI-powered Pixel Watch, updated Pixel Buds Pro 2 with new features, and Pixel Snap magnetic charging accessories, with most devices launching in the UK from late August.

Google recently held its biggest event of the year, unveiling a range of new devices including smartphones, earbuds, a smartwatch, and accessories. The highlight was the launch of the 10th generation Pixel phones: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL. These models are touted as the most personalized and proactive Pixels to date, featuring upgraded triple camera systems with up to 100x zoom on the Pro models. The Pixel 10 starts at £799, the Pixel 10 Pro at £999, and the Pixel 10 Pro XL at £1199, with screen sizes ranging from 6.3 inches to a large 6.8 inches on the Pro XL.

In addition to the standard Pixel phones, Google introduced the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, its most durable foldable phone yet. This device features a gearless hinge design and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, matching the protection level of the other Pixel 10 models. The foldable boasts a large 8-inch tablet-like display on the inside and a 6.4-inch screen on the front. Despite the large screens, Google claims the Fold offers over 30 hours of battery life, making it ideal for extended use such as long flights.

All the new Pixel phones come preloaded with Android 16, which was released recently. Alongside the phones, Google unveiled the new Pixel Watch available in two sizes. This smartwatch includes an AI-powered health coach capable of answering fitness and health-related questions. It is waterproof and supports fast charging, reaching 50% battery in just 15 minutes. The Pixel Watch will be available later this month starting at £349.

Google also announced updates for the Pixel Buds Pro 2, which will receive new software features including AI assistance with Gemini support and loud noise protection to safeguard users’ ears. The earbuds will also be available in a new Moonstone color to complement the new Pixel phones. These enhancements aim to improve user experience and integrate seamlessly with the broader Pixel ecosystem.

Finally, Google introduced Pixel Snap, a new range of magnetic charging accessories designed to attach securely to the back of Pixel phones for wireless charging. These accessories are compatible with the new Pixel phones as well as any Qi2-certified devices and can be interchanged with Apple’s MagSafe chargers. Most of the new devices will be available in the UK starting August 28th, except for the Pixel Fold, which will launch on October 9th.
